If you have not yet heard about the bone broth craze that is sweeping the world, then you need to get on board. Bone broth is nutrient dense, easy to digest and delicious.
Bone broth or bone stock was a way our ancestors made use of every part of the animal way back in the day. Bones and the marrow, skin and feet, tendons and ligaments that you don’t normally consume can be boiled and then simmered into a delicious healing soup. This simmering causes the bones and ligaments to release healing compounds like collagen, proline, glycine and glutamine that have the power to transform your health. And best of all it approved for Phase 2 and 3 of the HCG Diet.
Ingredients:
200-300 Grams Chicken carcass bones. These can be cooked and leftover or raw and purchased from the butcher department at the supermarket.
2 Stalks of Celery, chopped
2 Large Carrots, chopped
1 Onion, peeled chopped
3 Cloves of Garlic, crushed
Dried or fresh herbs, parsley, thyme. (To Taste)
Salt and Pepper to taste.
2 Bay Leaves
2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Place the chicken bones into a large pot or saucepan and cover with water. You want to have about 5 -7 cm of water above the bones.
2. Add Vegetables, cider and all other ingredients
3. Bring to a boil
4. Reduce heat to the lowest setting
5. Partially cover and let it simmer for 4-5 hours. The longer, the better.
6. Strain, let cool and refrigerate for 2 hours
7. Scrape off any the fat that may have floated to the top.
Handy Tip: Fill an icecube tray to have individual serves to add to cooking.
